Productivity is an important metric which can measure the efficiency of an employee. Moving away from the traditional belief that productivity can be measured only for a manufacturing industry, it implies the same for an office environment as well where physical productivity might not be done at all.
For an instance suppose a person is working in automobile manufacturing company and he works in assembling section, his productivity might be measured with number of cars he has assembled during a particular time , which could be in a day or in a particular month. On the same lines in an office environment the productivity might not be measured in terms of some physical work, it might be rather a different parameter. For an example in an IT services company a particular employee works as Service Desk Analyst, his productivity will be measured in terms of number of tickets he has handled for the day or for an entire month.
